Privacy Policy

The short version

We don't collect your data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no tracking, and no servers of ours storing anything about you. Everything the extension needs lives in your browser.

What stays on your device

• Settings — your language choices, toggles, color style and theme are stored in Chrome's extension storage (and synced by Chrome between your own devices if you use Chrome sync).
• Translation cache — recent translations are cached locally so repeated messages don't need new requests. Cache keys are SHA-256 hashes; original message texts are not stored in readable form. The cache is limited in size and expires automatically.
• DeepL API key — if you add one, it is stored in your extension storage only and is sent exclusively to DeepL to perform translations.

What leaves your device

To translate a message, its text is sent to the translation service you selected — Google Translate and MyMemory (default), or DeepL (if you provided your own API key). The text is used by those services to produce the translation, subject to their own privacy policies. We are not a party to that exchange and never see it: requests go directly from your browser to the service.

What we never do

• No collection of personal information, messages, or usage statistics.
• No selling, sharing, or transferring data to third parties.
• No advertising, no fingerprinting, no background requests unrelated to translation.

Permissions, explained

• discord.com — required to read messages you see and insert translations into the page.
• Translation services (translate.googleapis.com, api.mymemory.translated.net, api-free.deepl.com, api.deepl.com) — required to fetch translations.
• storage — required to keep your settings and the local cache.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the new version will be published at this address with an updated effective date. Material changes will be noted in the extension's changelog.
